Virgil's® Black Cherry Cream Soda review

I am a nut for cherry flavored anything, so when I spied some Virgil's® Microbrewed Black Cherry Cream Soda, I thought I would treat myself and buy a 4-pack.  This cost me $4.79 at Natural Grocer.  I feel the product was not worth the cost.

Virgil's® is a registered brand name of Reed's Inc., the same folks that made the ginger brew I tried last week and did not like.  This soda, for all it's claims at being natural, did not taste natural at all.  From first sip to last, my taste buds were disappointed, like there was something they were expecting but did not discover.  The cherry seemed overdominant with no discernable trace of the vanilla notes, and the cream in this cream soda comes on mostly as a lingering aftertaste.

I also question whether this product is actually brewed.  True brewing requires the use of yeast, just like a beer.  Some companies simply inject CO2 into a beverage and call it brewed.  I suspect that is what this company did because the ingredients do not include yeast.  That makes this carbonated water with fruit flavor added, and I can get more satisfying drinks in that category than this one.
