The first glue I decided to test is the Gem-Tac™. I am not sure why the jewelry making book recommended a fabric glue, but I am going to give it a shot. Maybe there is a Gem-Tec™ for jewelry, too, and I just ordered the wrong one. (Crap, why did I think of that now?) This is the only glue of the four I am testing that does not recommend roughening of the surfaces.
The first instruction is to remove the cap and puncture the tip. I did this with a long sewing needle and thimble. It then states surfaces should be "clean and free from dust," so I wiped the finding and the acrylic jewel with alcohol. Next is to apply a small amount of glue to the surface. Done. Lastly is to "gently position without pressing." And done. The bottle says to allow 24 hours to dry. In 24 hours, then, I will finish the test and update this post.
